Happy Sunday!

Hi everyone! I hope you are having a blessed Sunday! Well, it’s my favorite time of the year again… THE FALL! How was your Summer? I hope you had a great one! This summer has been the best Summer I’ve had in a long time. I’m almost sorry to see it go but not really because I love the Fall/Autumn season. I love the cooler weather, when the leaves change into all those pretty colors, Football season, the holidays & my birthday! 🙂

I wanted to share with you what my church family is doing & invite you to join us. Every year we do what’s called a 28 day challenge where we study different topics. Our 28 day challenge for this year starts today and the topic we are studying is “Why Do I Exist” (which we abbreviated to YXist). You are not a mistake! You are valuable and precious to God. He has a special plan and purpose for each and every one of us and during the next 28 days we are going to take the steps to find out what that is. During this time we also do random acts of kindness where we give to others. We give to those who God puts on our hearts to give to. We give to total strangers (paying for someones meal, gas, etc.) We are also giving to a local charity that helps the homeless. We are buying toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap & deodorant to donate. This is an exciting time for us.

I want to invite you to find out what God put you here specifically to do. Some don’t know their purpose, some know a little about their purpose but need more clarity and some know exactly what they are called to do. Whatever level you’re at I believe this study will be a blessing to you. During this time keep a journal and write down what God speaks to you. It’s going to be life changing! So take the challenge with me! Thank you and God Bless!

Have You Ever Fasted For Lent?

This time of year I hear a lot about different fasts going on for Lent. Lent is an annual season of fasting beginning on Ash Wednesday and lasting up until Easter Sunday. I don’t usually fast during this time but I decided to join in this year. I knew I wanted to do some type of fast but I didn’t know which one. I came across a fast that one of my church’s satellite church is going to participate in that I really like so I wanted to share it in case you want to join in. It has some great ideas and guidelines to follow. I may not follow everything to a tee but I’m definitely going to take many of the ideas and give them a try. This is a 21 day fast and starts tomorrow. I have fasted different things in the past like certain foods & certain TV shows. I like the idea of fasting from time to time because it helps us to discipline ourselves and helps us make extra time to spend with the Lord. I have attached information regarding the fast and how to sign up for the free daily devotional emails. If you would like to join in please feel free to do so. Even if you just pick one thing to fast it can still be beneficial. So let’s go! 🙂

How Has 2014 Been So Far?

I know I’m a little late but Happy New Year! I pray that 2014 is filled with blessings, peace, health, joy, prosperity and success for you!

How has the start of your year been going? Well, my year started off a little odd. The 1st Saturday of this year I got up that morning and injured myself while stretching. I must have pulled something because the back of my head, neck and my upper back started hurting. My neck was so stiff I couldn’t turn it. I couldn’t do much of anything without pain. It lasted for a week. What a way to start off the new year. Thank God I’m back to normal now.

I also wanted to share some of the things I’ve gotten myself into this year that you also may want to join. These things were not planned, they kind of just happened. The 1st thing I did was join The Favor Project by Jennifer Lucy Tyler. Take a look at the video that explains what The Favor Project is:

Isn’t that awesome! I love the idea of writing in a journal throughout the entire year all the good things (both small and big) that the Lord does for us. By the time December gets here we will be amazed and say “look what the Lord has done!” I already had a journal that I used off and on (more off than on) for doing that very thing. Now is the perfect time for me to pick that journal back up again and be more consistent with it. This is something I want to start doing every year.

The 2nd thing I did was join the 21 day Financial Fast by Michelle Singletary. Take a look at the video regarding the Financial Fast:

It’s only day 6 of the fast but I’m loving it so far. On this fast all you can buy are necessities, no eating out, no extra shopping and no unnecessary spending. The book is great and it’s Biblically based. It’s a great thing to do the start of every year to get your finances started off right. She also has daily videos and challenges for us to do.

And last but not least I just started the 30 day Prayer Dare; Praying for Your Husband from Head to Toe by Sharon Jaynes. Here is a link regarding the 30 day Prayer Dare:

I just started this but I know it’s going to be awesome. You may be thinking she has a lot going on all at once. I agree! Lol! I always said I wanted to read and write more. I guess I got my wish. These things have encouraged and blessed me and put me in the right direction this year. Feel free to join in on one or all of them. Or the Lord may have put other things on your heart to do this year. Be obedient and do it! It will make your 2014 the best it can be. God Bless!

Join Me And Try God Like You Never Have Before

Hi everyone,

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day. I haven’t written a new post in a while but I think now is a good time to write one. I just wanted to tell you about what my church family is doing. This past Sunday we started a 28 day challenge. It’s called Test Drive, Try God Like Never Before. For 28 days we are going to step up our walk with God. We are going to seek Him more in prayer, Bible study, praise & worship and whatever else God lays on our hearts to do. We are also doing what we call random acts of kindness where we are being a blessing to those around us. We’re doing things like paying for total strangers gas or meal & telling them that Jesus loves them. I’m excited because only good things can come from seeking God more. I don’t know about you but I want more from God. I’m not satisfied with where I am now. I want to go higher in Him. I heard a minister say the word insanity means to do the same things & expect different results. So to get things we haven’t had before we have to do things we haven’t done before. During this time the Lord has laid on my heart to fast certain reality TV shows like Basketball Wives, Hollywood Exes & The Real Housewives of whatever city and use that time to seek Him. I want to extend an invitation to you to join me and try God like you never have before. Seek Him more & just do what He puts on your heart to do and I promise you God will do awesome things for you & through you. God bless you!

Eating Healthier in 2013

I follow a cool website called http://www.hungry-girl.com/ that gives great information on eating healthy. The website gives healthier substitutes for the foods we love. If one of your New Years resolutions is to eat better this is right up your alley. I wanted to post a copy of their 2013 Winter Supermarket List that gives better choices for the types of foods to buy. I just printed it off to use for my grocery shopping and I thought it would be helpful to others as well. You can also follow Hungry Girl on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/#!/HungryGirl?fref=ts and Twitter https://twitter.com/HungryGirl. And by the way it’s not just for girls. It’s for guys too. The creator of the website named it after herself because she loves food but wants to eat healthy and help others do the same. If you have any health and fitness tips please feel free to share them with us.
