The 1st step to walking in God’s perfect will for our lives

The 1st step to walking in God’s perfect will is to know what God’s will is. You are not just here on this earth because your father & mother got together. You are not just here on this earth to be born, get through life & die. God has a plan and purpose for your life and it is a good plan and purpose. God has things for you to do, places for you to go and people for you to see.  You are an important part of God’s plan. God needs for you to walk in your calling.  He want’s you to fulfill His purpose for your life and use you for His glory. And we should enjoy the ride along the way.
It all starts with God’s Word. God’s Word is His will & His will is His Word. St. John 1:1 says “In the beginning was the Word & the Word was with God & the Word was God“. St. John 1:14 says “And the Word was made flesh & dwelt among us”. Jesus is God’s Word made flesh. Jesus is God’s will for our lives. Jesus is our example. What we see Jesus doing in the Word is the will of God. I love reading about all the things Jesus did & is still doing (healing the sick, raising the dead, casting out demons). But even though Jesus left heaven to come to earth for a specific purpose (to be born of a virgin, to destroy the works of the devil, to die on the cross and shed His blood for our sins, to rise from the dead & to save mankind) He also took time to read the written Word  (Luke 4:17). And that’s also what we need to do to fulfill our specific purpose.
We also need to spend time in prayer. Jesus often took time away from everyone and spent it in prayer. (Mark 1:35, Luke 5:16 & Luke 6:12). I know we are busy people but we are not busier than Jesus was.  He is our example. We find time for everything else we want to do. We must take time and spend it in prayer. I’m not saying we have to spend 2 hours in prayer everyday. Do what God puts on your heart to do. We need to spend time with God so He can tell us what to do. Seeking God is key to fulfilling our purpose & walking in God’s perfect will.
We also need the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us to lead us, guide us and direct us because we  are not going to open the Bible and see it written “Thus saith the Lord, I want you to move to Florida or I want you to go to school in California or I want you to take a job in New York”.  The Holy Spirit will lead, guide & direct us in our decision-making so it lines up with God’s plan.
God has provided all the things we need in this life to fulfill His purpose. He will reveal things to us step by step as we seek Him. God has great things for you & I’m excited about what He has done, is doing & will do in your life! Enjoy the ride! 🙂
Every time I hear this song it brings tears to my eyes! God isn’t mad at us, He loves us! Israel Houghton | Surprises feat. Fred Hammond http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7SZNdIwnIQ
